About this page
Ride2School's target audience is students in Years 5-9. Whether you are a primary or secondary school teacher, there are benefits for your students in being more active. Students who walk, ride, scoot or skate to school will arrive exercised and ready to learn. They are likely to be more independent than those who are driven to school.
1. Ride2School Professional Development in Darebin
Bicycle Victoria, in conjunction with Darebin City Council, is running a FREE Professional Development Day to assist you to develop the skills and knowledge to enhance active travel at your school.
A sign of commitment to Ride2School
Schools which participate in the Ride2School program in a "do it yourself" fashion may be eligible to receive a R2S sign to proudly display in their grounds.
At Ride2School, We Love Helping Schools!
One way to get more students interested in active travel is to become part of our Partner School Program. Schools receive monthly visits from a Ride2School Coordinator with the aim of supporting you to get more students riding and walking more often.
Bicycle User Group (BUGs)
Bicycle User Groups are an effective way of building supportive and sustainable cycling groups within and outside the workplace. You will additionally become a great role model to those around you!

Need some bikes for your students?
Does your school need spare bikes for Bike Ed? There are a couple of fantastic programs which repair second hand bikes to be donated to those without. The AEIC is in Melbourne and Barwon Youth in Geelong does up second hand bikes.

What attracts parents to send their children to your school? Is it the sports or music programs, the academic record or environmental effort of the school? Or is it that your school is a dedicated Ride2School school?
Ride2School Curriculum
We would love you to trial our new Ride2School Curriculum Materials. Teachers have been asking us to provide some classroom materials which feature active travel and this is our starting point. We have just added six new lessons to the webpage.

The Kids – ‘Go for your life’, Stride and Ride program and Ride2School have teamed up to get more students’ active everyday and motivate progress through the Stride and Ride Chart. See how easy it is for walkers and bike riders to colour in a square for each day they ‘stride or ride’ to school.
