Ambassadors

Top level endorsement around Australia

A growing list of Ambassadors are helping to spread the bike riding buzz. If you are a senior manager who endorses the concept of riding to work, make Ride to Work Day - 13 October 2010 an event on the company calendar, motivate and spread the word.

Ambassadors are senior managers who have made the commitment to:

Make Ride to Work Day (13 October 2010)  a date on the company calendar and promote it well in advance through the intranet and staff newsletter.

Organise a celebratory breakfast or encourage attendance at one of the CBD breakfasts to be held around Australia.

Other initiatives can include:

* Setting a target for participation at all worksites
* Award prizes for the site with the highest percentage of participants
* Invite other work contacts and influential friends to promote the event in their own organisation
* Promote the event through professional associations

What do ambassadors think about bike commuting?

"I'm pleased to have been invited to be Telstra's Ride to Work Ambassador for 2009. Cycling is an important part of my life, so I'm happy to encourage every Telstra employee to ride to work instead of driving: as well as helping with physical fitness, we can also reap the environmental benefits. Last year, Telstra won the 'Ultimate Participation Challenge', and I know we can get even more people taking part this year. It's a great opportunity for first-time riders to give it a go, and for experienced riders to be a part of this great organised event."

David Moffatt Group MD,Telstra Consumer Marketing and Channels

"Bike Commuting is good exercise and staff health is a key component in our health and well-being strategy, whilst improving productivity, it is fun."

Colin Macdonald HSE CSIRO
