Cambridge Primary Ride2School Day
About this page
On Wednesday 13th September, Cambridge Primary hosted a record-breaking Ride2School Day. There were 111 bikes in the two bike sheds, nearly doubling the record set at last year's Ride to School Day.
Of the 444 students who participated in the Active Travel 'Hands-Up' Survey on the day
· 23% rode
· 31% walked
Which means that the majority of students, 54%, used active transport to get to school on the day.
The minority of students, 46%, were driven to school.
In Year 6 the number of students using active travel was as high as 60%.
The Cambridge's Ride2School Day event proves that in some schools the majority of students can get to school car free, leading to healthier more active lives for young people and reduced car congestion and greenhouse gas pollution for our environment.
