Ben gets further and gets there faster by bike

About this page

Ben, a year 9 student at Western Port Secondary College is accumulating kilometres with ease for the 500km Gold Medal Challenge.

Ben is a 15 year old, year 9 student at Western Port Secondary College.  He has clocked up 420kms since signing up for the 500km Gold Medal Challenge and all without too much effort. Ben said “I thought it was an obtainable goal because I ride to school often and I like challenges.”

Ben has always had a bike and rides it instead of walking because he says you can get further and to places faster.  He enjoys riding with his mate Luke after school and on weekends. They often ride 8kms from Hastings to Crib Point on weekends to watch the footy or cricket.

Ben said “its great to be independent and the fitness just comes with it”. The 500km Gold Medal Challenge has also kicked off his training for the GVBR this year. It will be Ben’s first long distance ride and his biggest challenge which he is very excited about.

As a member of the Western Port Wheeleez bike group both Ben and Luke have assisted with Bike Education in local primary schools as well as helping with the organisation of very successful Ride2School days.

We look forward to sending you your gold medal very soon Ben!
