The Wonderful World of Bike Ed!

About this page

There are a number of options available if delivering Bike Ed ‘in house’ is not an option.

a) Outsource the delivery of the Bike Ed program

Besides training a teacher at your school, there are a number of options if you would like your students to experience Bike Education.

We recommend you try Off Road Cycling Adventures , All About Mountain Bike Tours  or First Track Adventures who offer Bike Education program for primary and secondary schools on a commercial basis.

If your school is part of the Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong or Wyndham city councils, Roadsafe Westgate has a bike trailer containing 20 bikes for hire, available from Term 4 2008. For more information, click here.

Also, if your school happens to be in the City of Yarra you could ask Senior Constable Anthony Brewin, Youth Resource Officer at Fitzroy Police Station, as he can be available to deliver Bike Ed to your students.

This list includes places that offer traffic safety education.

c) Bicycle Victoria volunteers

And don't forget we have a growing database of friendly trained volunteers to assist your teachers with Bike Education. You will need one trained teacher but if you would like extra help at your school, contact Andrew (ph. 8636 8883) for more information.

Bike Education

According to Vic Roads, Bike Education is a great way to 'develop safe, independent cyclists'. Bike Ed programs aim to 'develop and nuture a responsible attitude to road use, practice riding skills for safe bike use and increase children's knowledge of road rules'.

You may wish to order the Bike Ed kit from the Vic Roads Bookshop ($15 on CD). To order online, click here
