Ride2School has developed a partnership with Kids - 'Go for your life'. Kids - 'Go for your life' is rolling out 6 icons connected to healthy eating and active living in Primary Schools. For Terms 3 and 4 in 2008, the theme is Move, Play and Go. We reckon that fits in very well with more students walking and riding more often - to school, to play and to friends.
Incentives are offered for all Kids – ‘Go for your life’ schools Awarded during July – December 2008, in-line with our key message ‘Move, Play, Go.’ Awarded schools will receive a kit of sports / play equipment to recognise their achievements. So join up and get your Award!
- Kids – ‘Go for your life’ is now in its second year of implementation and has a membership of over 650 primary schools across
- Kids - ‘Go for your life’ is funded by State Government and managed by Diabetes
- The Kids - ‘Go for your life’ Award Program provides a comprehensive, yet simple guide, on how to create a healthier environment for children by promoting six healthy messages - Tap into Water, Plant Fruit and Veg in Your Lunchbox, Limit ‘Occasionally’ Foods, Move, Play and Go, Turn Off Switch to Play and Stride and Ride.
- All schools that make the commitment to achieve the Award will be supported under the Kids - ‘Go for your life’ Program as they work through each of the criteria. Whether you are just starting out or already have activities promoting healthy eating and physical activity, Kids -‘Go for your life’ is committed to providing supportive resources to assist your school.
- The criteria supports the achievement of education sector requirements related to physical activity, such as the Physical Education mandate, and the VELS requirements for Health and Physical Education.
- Policy development is one aspect of the Program to encourage sustainability of physical education and activity, and the Kids – ‘Go for your life’ Primary School State Coordinator can offer the following support in policy development for Member schools:
· Policy templates.
· Examples of policies from schools.
· Health and PE
