One way to get more students interested in active travel is to become part of our Coach School Program. Schools receive monthly visits from a Ride2School Coordinator with the aim of supporting you to get more students riding and walking more often.
What is a coach school?
A school which receives hands on assistance from a Schools Coordinator to get their Ride2School Program going. Ideas and resources are given and links are forged within the community. Our program gives priority to disadvantaged schools.
What the Ride 2 School Team can offer:
- Regular booked visits to your school to meet with staff and students.
- Guidance, support and expertise in getting more students riding and walking more often.
- Assistance with developing Quiet Neighbourhood Routes to school and improving pedestrian infrastructure/liason with local councils.
- Assembly presentations about the benefits of active travel.
- A teacher trained in Bike Education (normally costs $242)
- Friendly and helpful trained Bike Ed Volunteers and/or Ride2School staff for cycling activities.
- Incentives for active travel including t-shirts, lanyards, drink bottles, posters and stickers and a bike pump for each school.
- Support and assistance in obtaining reconditioned bikes for your school.
- Access to our networks and resources.
- We send out regular newsletters, funding advice, competitions.
- Assistance with: forming a bike club, bike shed building, planning a Ride2School Day, frequent rider passports, and lots more!

What we ask for in return:
- A commitment to the program from School Council and the Principal.
- Completion of the Hands Up surveys every month.
- A school coordinator with the time and energy to implement the program on the ground.
- A willingness to trial and implement the physical and social infrastructure elements of the program.
- Participation in an event in for example Ride2Work Day, Walk and Wheel-A-Thon or the annual Ride2School Day event in March.
