First girl to receive gold and second overall

About this page

Congratulations to Kylie Payne, first girl to receive a gold medal and second overall to receive gold.

We are thrilled to announce that the Kylie Payne is the first girl to complete the 500km Gold Medal Challenge. Kylie is 14 years old and in year 8 at Castlemaine Secondary College. This is a huge personal achievement and to top it off she is only the second person overall to complete the challenge.

Kylie is a junior cyclist who takes her sport seriously and puts a lot of time and effort into her training which allows her to achieve great results in the competitions she enters.

Like many of us Kylie first rode a bike when she was 4 years old and took up racing about 3 years ago after going to a come and try day at the local track. Kylie says “I train most nights with my Dad and I race Saturday afternoon and Sunday Morning”. She is a member of the Castlemaine Cycling Club and races both track and road. Sounds like a committed cyclist to me.

Kylie has raced in many events over the last few years including the country road titles and country track titles with an impressive result of 2nd in the road titles in 2007. Only last weekend Kylie raced in the Bendigo tour and came 2nd in the C grade section of u/15 and u/17.

“I just want to have fun and do my best” Kylie says. The next challenge for Kylie is to ride the Eildon tour in July and compete in the State Titles.

Congatulations to Kylie on this great acheivement and best of luck in your coming events.
