Ashby PS opens its new Sustainable Bike Shed
About this page
Ashby Primary School won the primary school Sustainable Shed grant in 2007. The shed was opened 23 May 2008.
This great shed embodies all that's good about a sustainable bike shed.
- It has ample storage for bikes.
- It has a water tank, which fills from the shed roof.
- It has solar panels to power the water pump used to wash the veges from the adjacent vege patch
- The mesh front wall will be used to grow fruit vines
- It has solar lights
- It was largely constructed with assistance of the school community - lots of weekend working bees
- It was built with support from local businesses
- the opening was celebrated by the whole school community including all the students, a past student, parents, the local councillor, the companies that designed, provided materials and assisted in its building and Ride2School
(As soon as we have permission we'll show you some of the students with their fabulously decorated bikes..)
