Geelong Mayor supports Ride2School at Corio Primary

About this page

Corio Primary combines National Ride2School Day with opening their new bike parking.

Students eagerly rode to Corio Primary on National Ride2School Day to use the new bike parking for the first time. Cr Bruce Harwood, the Mayor of Geelong, was on hand to officially open the bike parking and to show his support for students walking and riding to school.

The lack of bike parking at Corio PS meant that students were holding back from riding to school. So when the school was awarded a $5000 Go for your life Bike Shed Seeding Grant, bike racks were quickly installed. National Ride2School Day was the start of a promising future of bike riding at the school!

Student leaders helped to promote and organise National Ride2School Day incorporating a healthy breakfast and bike engraving by the local police on the day.

Corio Primary is a Coach School with the Ride2School Program. To thank them for their commitment to the program, a Ride2School sign for the front fence was presented to the school.
