Bakers Delight Holdings co-founder and joint CEO, Lesley Gillespie, joins Kendra Teasdale, Corporate Communications Manager, as a National Ambassador following Bakers Delight's national partnership with National Ride to Work Day 2008.
David Borthwick, Secretary of the Australian Government Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts is backing his Department's sponsorship of National Ride to Work Day by agreeing to again be a National Ambassador and encouraging his staff to ride to work.
Rob Carter-Lewis, Principal at Arup, has joined Andrew Wisdom, Principal at Arup Melbourne, as an Ambassador of National Ride to Work Day 2008. "Sustainable transport is part of our environment management plan and 10% of our workforce participated in National Ride to Work Day 2007." Andrew believes that "supporting cycling sends a strong message about what we believe in."
CSC is an organisation with a strong cycling culture (winner of the 2008 Tour de France). They are also strong supporters of National Ride to Work Day. Wayne Banks, CFO and Vice President Finance and Administartion - Australia, has signed up as an Ambassador for 2008 as National Ride to Work Day is "in line with a number of our company values."
Mark Sullivan, Secretary of the Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs, has encouraged National Ride to Work Day since it's inception. The department's Canberra, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Sydney offices all took part in National Ride to Work Day.
NAB are showing their support for National Ride to Work Day by holding Workplace Breakfasts at all of their major sites. Joining the Ambassador program in 2008 are: Stephn Tudjman - Senior Legal Council and Head of MLC Legal, Peter McDonald - Head of Quality, David Larson - Commersial Services Australia and David Thompson - General Manager to The Group CFO.
Mark Stubbings, Partner at Allens Arthur Robertson in Sydney, is an Ambassador for National Ride to Work Day 2008 after enjoying the experience in 2007.
Telstra is a strong nationwide participant in National Ride to Work Day, winning the TravelSmart Workplace Challenge in 2007. David Moffatt, Managing Director of Telstra Consumer Marketing and Channels, has registered as a National Ambassador for 2008. David is "happy to encourage every Telstra employee to ride to work" so they can reap the physical fitness benefits, as well as the environmental benefits of leaving the car at home.
Peter Anderson, CEO of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, regularly rides his bike to work and is an advocate for the benefits of riding to work. "Beside benefits to individuals, there are gains available for businesses with the right attitude and capacities." This is Peter's second year as a National Ambassador for National Ride to Work Day after enjoying the experience last year.
Macquarie Group's Chief Financial Officer, Greg Ward, shows his support for the large number of employees at Macquarie Group who choose to ride to work by signing up as a National Ambassador for National Ride to Work Day 2008.
Corey Simpson, National HR Manager of Golder Associates aims to increase participation in their offices for National Ride to Work Day from 22% in 2007 to 30% in 2008! They have nine offices in Australia and five offices in New Zealand, all of which take part in National Ride to Work Day. They are now encouraging their international offices to join in!
Two of ANZ's senior executives, Brian Hartzer, CEO Australia, and David Cartwright, GMD Operations, Technology and Shared Services are National Ambassadors of National Ride to Work Day 2008. Brian rides to work a couple of times a week, weather permitting, and David walks to work most days but is a keen cyclist out of work time. Both Brian and David understand that looking after your health by keeping fit is important to achieving an outstanding level of performance at work.
Mick O'Brien, CEO of Invesco Australia, is joined by Peter Carr as a National Ambassador for National Ride to Work Day. After a great turn out in their Melbourne office in 2007, they are hoping to encourage people to ride to work in their other offices for the 2008 event.
