If your school is reluctant to let students ride why not introduce a School Riding Contract using our template?
Developed initially by Spotswood Primary School to manage perceived liability issues associated with students riding, the contract is a tool you might use if legal concerns are a barrier at your school.
Obtaining express permission from parents is one way the school can cover potential liability issues. Moreover, requiring parents to mark out the quietest possible route their child will ride can also help allay parents' safety concerns.
In an ideal world, all students at all schools would walk or ride all the time. However, in today's litigious world, a simple riding contract may be what your school needs to get more students riding and walking more often.
