Hands Up! allows your school to track its progress in getting more students riding and walking more often. It's a great way to measure and reward your school's success and it's as easy as ABC!
In addition to being a great measurement and tracking tool for your school, Hands Up! is also an essential data collection tool for the Ride2School Program and for our health system in measuring student active travel habits across the state. We want to get more students riding and walking more often and through Hands Up! you can tell us if we’re achieving that.
How to do Hands Up!
1. Register online – if your school hasn’t registered yet don’t wait another day! The registration process is quick and easy and the benefits are huge including your own Hands Up! Portal, opportunities to win great prizes, updates on latest news, funding opportunities and events through our Behind the Bike Shed e-newsletter and support from the Ride2School Team. Did we mention it’s free!!!
2. Print the results collection form– available within your Hands Up! portal. Simply print this form to record individual class results and get to us once a month any day. Thanks!
3. Collect data via teachers or student leaders - Hands Up! is a great way to involve students in your school’s active travel program. Simply appoint student representatives to tally their own class’ results each month using the results collection form. They then submit these results to the teacher / contact in charge of your school’s portal to enter in your total result. This makes the process more fun for students and reduces the work for teachers- you’ve got to love that!
4. Compile and submit – Once you have compiled the results from each class enter your schools total results into your portal. Your portal then calculates your schools active travel percentage and displays this for you as a pie or bar graph- the choice is yours.
