Membership Service Conditions

About this page

This page outlines in detail the main conditions of the member benefits.

Bicycle Victoria Memberships are not transferable.

Insurance Cover:

Members will only be covered by the insurance if they meet the requirements of the membership type chosen. We do not check your families details upon joining or renewing.  It is your responsibilty to make sure the details are accurate.

To make a claim for a bike crash, please call Bicycle Victoria with your Membership number and have details of the crash on hand.

The insurance cover over the period of your Membership may alter.

Your Insurance cover is active as of the process date. This can be delayed when joiing through paper form rather than instantaneous when joing online.

Information required for joining or renewing:

We require your first name, surname, home address (or PO Box), date of birth and a contact telephone number.

These are for insurance purposes and validity upon joining or renewing.

Any credit card payments made for Bicycle Victoria Membership will go over the internet. If you are concerned about security please pay by cheque or cash ( no cash through the mail).

We do not accept AMEX and Dines for Membership payments.

Any Membership payments by cheque that bounce will incur a $20 adminstrative fee for following up payment with member.

When Members join we will send out a Membership pack with the latest information and your Membership card. If you have not received this after three weeks of joining, please call Bicycle Victoria.

Direct Debit Arrangements:

All changes to a Direct Debit agreement including cancellations need to be done on paper, signed and mailed into Bicycle Victoria.

Membership Cards:

One Membership card is issued to a Membership, no matter if it is a family or individual Membership.

You are able to purchase an additional Membership Card for $10 by calling Bicycle Victoria's office. If your card has been stolen this $10 fee can be waived.

Membership cards may not always accurately represent the members covered under the insurance cover of the Membership. This is because changes made to a membership when current may not be altered on the card also.

Renewal of Membership:

We will let you know two months in advance of when your Bicycle Victoria Membership is due. We do this through emails, mailings and SMS. If you would prefer not to be notified by any one of these means please let us know, or change your contact options online via Your Home Page.

Changing your Membership type:

You can only do this when you are renewing your Membership. Bicycle Victoria does not upgrade or downgrade Memberships once they are active.

Adding New Members to a Membership:

Members will not be able to add additional or remove family members to an existing Membership once it is paid for. This has implications for our insurance premium which we cannot amend. We recommend that family members either become a Member solely or add the additional members when it is time to renew.

Cancellation of Membership:

Bicycle Victoria has a refund policy in place. It is dependant on the circumstances associated with the request that will determine whether a refund is valid.

This is because we have paid your insurance premium for a year, made an investment on your behalf for products and services as well as the administation of processing your Membership.

We recommend that you contact us to discuss your options, as we believe a better alternative is to see out your membership for insurance reasons and we can ensure you do not receive any communications from us.

Campaigns

We will keep you up to date with the latest developments in the bike riding world through In the Loop; a members only fortnightly eNewsletter.

All members in a membership can choose to receive In the Loop, to ensure this please email us with your name and email address.

Ride On Magazine:

Ride On Magazine is delivered to each Membership every two months. You will only receive one magazine per Membership.

If your address details have changed, please let us know as soon as possibe so we can make sure you do not miss out on a Ride On Magazine.

If you wish to unsubscribe to Ride On, please send us an email.

Ride On magazine is not delivered outside of Australia.

Ride On subscriptions can be taken out which can be delivered overseas.

Exclusive Member Deals

We do not have a full list of Bike Shops in Victoria that accept Bicycle Victoria's Membership card for a discount. We have a list of some bike shops on the Find A section, however we also recommend asking at the bike shop for a discount with your Membership card.

Member Deals may change over the period of your Membership.

Upholding Your Rights:

Your bike is not covered as part of the insurance cover, however if your bike has been damaged from the actions of others we are able to advise you on how to recover your costs (letter of demand). If this is unsuccessful, we will put you in touch with Maurice Blackburn who can provide a limited amount of legal advice and can take further action on behalf of members to help them recover their damage costs.

If the matter is involving two Bicycle Victoria Members who both contact Maurice Blackburn, please note that they will not assist either member in the case and advice you to go through your local council legal services or seek further advice elsewhere.

Bike Riding on the website:

Bicycle Victoria do not follow the Forum content on a regular basis and all advice and information supplied on the forums is not endorsed by Bicycle Victoria.

Requesting Bicycle Victoria Membership Prospective Ride On copies.

Non-members are able to get one free copy of Ride On magazine sent to them in any 12 month period. If you request more than one in this period, we will send you a notice informing you that you can receive Ride On magazine as part of Bicycle Victoria Membership.
