Cambridge Primary Launch

The Cambridge Primary School Launch was a great success!

The Cambridge Primary Ride2School Program was officially launched on Tuesday 5th September in Hoppers Crossing, by the Hon. Glenyys Romanes, Member for Melbourne Province.

Following the speeches by Bicycle Victoria CEO Harry Barber and Councillor Shane Bourke, Mayor of Wyndham City Council, Glenyys Romanes cut the ribbon to officially open the school's temporary bike shed.

Installation of this shed, made from recycled shipping containers, has led to a 50% increase in the number of students riding to school. On the day of the launch a record 53 bikes were parked in the shed and the number of students riding continues to grow.

350 flag waving Grade 4,5 and 6 students, including Junior School Councillors and 'Cambridge Bikey Gang' members, greeted the VIP’S as they arrived at the event on their bikes, proving that it is not just students who can get to school by bike, but members of Parliament and CEO’s too!

The launch also featured an animated choir performance of the famous cycling song, “Riding along on a push-bike, honey!”

The Ride2School team would like to thank Assistant Principal Nella Cascone, the Cambridge Junior School Council and Bikey Gang, and all the staff and students of Cambridge Primary who made the launch such a great event.
