Jenni's Ride2School Day Story

About this page

My daughters were over the moon about riding to school. Paige cannot wait until next year when she can ride her bike to school unaccompanied by me. I imagine it's that sense of independence and freedom that all kids want and which riding provides.

Today we had a Ride2School Day at my daughters' school.

My daughters Paige who is in grade 3 and Chloe in grade 1 got ready early this morning so we could all ride to school together.  I decided to ride with them as the school has a policy which prohibits students in the lower grades riding to school unaccompanied by an adult.

I enjoy riding when I get the opportunity and I and my daughters ride our bikes on the weekend and in the holiday breaks and we also try to walk home from school when ever possible.  I am a Type 1 Diabetic and so I understand completely the importance of regular exercise and I try to instil this in my children.

The school has just recently been given several containers which have been used as bike sheds.  This has given the students an incentive to ride to school more regularly as their bikes can now be parked undercover.
