TELSTRA ENVIRONMENT AWARDS
There's $2000 a month available in every state for anyone 'making their mark in preserving our world'. We know you are busy - so we've made some suggestions about information you could include in this version of the Award application form. Also check out Ride2Schoolers saving the planet for some great green news from the program to get you started.
GOVERNMENT GRANTS
State and Federal governments generally have funding rounds each year through which schools can apply for funding for bike sheds. Remember that building a bike shed contributes to other government goals such as sustainability, reduced green house gases, active healthy communities and reduced road congestion. This means that you may be eligible for grant programs offered by government departments that cover the environment, transport, community and health.
Federal Grants
Search option 1- Try the Grants Link, your government community grants site.
Search option 2- Try the Australian government grants and assistance web page for information on some grants.
State Grants
Search the Grants Finder for Victorian grants. It is a fast and easy way for you to find grants that you or your organisation may be eligible to apply for.
OTHER OPTIONS
Local councils, service groups such as Rotary and Lions and in-kind donations from parents and local businesses can all help get the shed built too.
FUNDRAISING
Finally schools still need to do their own fund raising because none of these sources will cover 100% of the costs. Fundraising could even be bike orientated, like a Bikeathon.
