Over 50s Riding Program

About this page

It has been confirmed that the Victorian Government’s “Go For Your Life” initiative will come to an end on 30 June 2010. Bicycle Victoria’s Over 50s Riding Program has been funded by the Government under this initiative which means that the program will cease also on 30 June 2010.

Behind everything Bicycle Victoria does is the drive to get more people cycling more often and we are so proud of what the Over 50s Riding program has achieved:
• the program has helped over 600 senior Victorians get back on the bike
• currently, there are at least six Over 50s group rides running every week in Melbourne
• over the past two years, over 700 rides have been offered to the community and over 91,000km have been ridden by participants.

All of which wouldn’t be possible without the commitment, passion and generous time given by the program’s volunteer Ride Leaders and Ride Buddies.

We hope that as a registrant of the Over 50s Riding Program, you’ve given ‘getting back on the bike’ a go and are reaping the benefits. We hope you will continue to ride and enjoy the many health and social benefits of bike riding.

If you have been riding with an Over 50s group we hope you will continue with your network of riding friends.

If you have missed the opportunity to go on an Over 50s ride, you can still join other like minded people on a group ride. Simply visit the Bicycle Victoria website and click on “Find a Community Ride” or click on this link: http://www.bv.com.au/find/community-ride/
