Here's Katrina's response to winning the major prize:
"I cannot believe that I won the Trek bike !!! I am totally stoked. To think it was only a year ago that I was doing support crew for my friends and from that I was motivated to start cycling, to a year later, I have completed Around the Bay and won an amazing Trek bike.
We had a great day yesterday, the guys I ride with, we call ourselves Team EuroCool which is really a tongue in cheek name. Anyway there was 5 of us riding yesterday, along with our support crew that meet us at Frankston on the return trip to Melbourne. Each year our support crew (which I was a part of last year) gets dressed up, which keeps us motivated on our ride as we never know what sort of craziness will be going on till we get there. From there they meet us Black Rock, in a completely different costume.
The weather was perfect yesterday and having lunch at Sorrento was a well deserved pit stop.
Thanks to all the volunteers that also made the event possible.
Great event, Loved the day and can't wait till next year when I will be on my new bike!!!"
