Pro Rata Entry
About this page
Pro rata entry is when a rider joins the event for a portion of the whole ride. Previously Bicycle Victoria has offered a pro-rata option on the Great Vic which has been either a daily rate, for single day participation, or a block rate, for multiple day participation.
Managing the arrivals and departures of these options was becoming increasingly difficult, both with administration and on the event, and therefore we decided to simplify the option for both Bicycle Victoria and riders.
We looked at the most common pro rata option and found the most popular to be a block amount of time, either before or after rest day. From this, we developed our Short Ride options known now on the Great Victorian Bike Ride as ‘Explorer” Options and currently on the Great Escapade as ‘Breakaway’ options.
The 2008 Great Victorian Bike Ride offers riders a 4 day experience from rest day in Halls Gap to the finish in Ballarat known as the Grampians Explorer.
The 2009 Great Escapade offers riders a 2 day weekend option from Margaret River to Busselton and then to Donnybrook known as the Busselton Breakway.
These are the only pro rata options available on the events.
The only other option is for riders to purchase a whole ride ticket and choose days in which they ride
