Find out a bit more about one of of dedicated Rides and Office Volunteers - our Clive!
It is 5 years since Clive started as a Bicycle Victoria Volunteer on 2003 Ride to Work Day and 2003 Around the Bay in a Day.
The 2005 Great Tasmanian Bike Ride in was a turning point, when Clive was a Volunteer in the Catering Team. He was responsible to making sure all of the Polystyrene Boxes from which breakfast and dinner is served, were cleaned and stacked ready for the next meal.
Since then, Clive has helped on the Great Vic and on the Great Escapade in Tasmania in 2007 where he tried his hand in the Volunteer Support Team putting up and taking down the orange Volunteer Tents. He headed back to the Catering Team to share his box washing expertise in NSW in 2008.
Clive even purchased his own trigger nozzle for the Box Washing Hoses so that he could save water when getting the job done!
To share his enthusiasm and experience around, Clive spread his wings and in 2007 helped on the NSW Big Ride and Cycle Queensland.
In November 2008 on the Great Vic, Clive will again be taking control out the back of the Catering Marquee, looking after the Catering Box washing team.
Clive helps the Great Rides Team in the Bicycle Victoria Office in Collins St and normally rides his bike in from St Kilda on Thursdays. When there are large mail outs going from the Office, Clive often comes in for additional days too.
In September 2008, Clive joined the Bicylce Victoria Staff on a Staff Celebration Ride Day, which included a session on the Darebin Veledrome. Check him out on the Track Bike to the right - he sure did get a bit of speed around that track!
You will find Clive on Friday helping out at Prahan Mission and on Saturday during the football season he is a goal umpire for the V.A.F.A.
