Day 8 - Beaufort

About this page

Saturday 6 December 2008

Beaufort is situated 387m above sea-level - this means there is a short climb on your bike to get there!

And did you know that is alleged that vegemite was invented at Beaufort in 1923 by Dr Cyril Percy Callister!

Today the town is a service centre to the area which produces beef, fat lambs, wool, cereals and timber.

The town may only have just over 1,000 residents, and when the Great Vic comes through and quadruples the towns inhabitants, the community is ready and raring to go to give riders a fantastic final night to remember!

The Beaufort community have set themselves the challenge and is working hard to make sure your stay in the Pyrenees Region will be the most memorable part of the Great Vic. They have put together an exciting program to keep you entertained from the time you arrive in Beaufort.

A highlight will be a concert at the local golf course (across the road from the Campsite) with local artists and the cover band ‘Bryan Jovi’ performing the best of Bryan Adams and Bon Jovi. Awesome! Tickets are limited, so please call (03) 5349 1180 or send an email to Norman to make a booking.
