Mike Sanders

About this page

Mike Sanders' great local knowledge will assist us in planning the route for the 2009 Great Escapade in Western Australia.

Mike Sanders joined the first Great Escapade in Western Australia in 2006 when the Ride went from Albany to Perth and was known as the MainRoads LifeCycle Great Western Australian Bike Ride. Mike not only rode 827km, with some detours along the way, but he also volunteered as a Happy Helper in the Information Tent.

Mike plans to ride the 2009 Great Escapade with his sons and has been a valuable asset to the Great Rides Team with local knowledge on the roads and regions. Mike grew up in Manjimup, an overnight stop on the 2009 Great Escapade. He will be lucky enough to grab a shower and possibly a bed that night as his family still resides there!

Leading up to the Ride, Mike will no doubt be in training with his sons, but he will also be helping out Bicycle Victoria planning for the Ride. The enthusiasm in Western Australia, from sponsors, local councils and local communities is wonderful and we thank everyone involved for their support.

We can’t wait to return to the west and spend a week in another world!
