Can I start the Ride at any time during the day? (11/06/08)
No, the The Family 10km and Fun 30km Rides start at 9.30am. You will need to be on the road and through the start by 10.30am and off the road by midday due to other events happening on the day.
Why have I not received a confirmation email? (10/06/08)
- You did not supply an email address
- There is a typo in the email address that you supplied
- You have a spam/security filter that will not allow emails from unknown email addresses or bulk emails.
The confirmation emails have been sent out at the end of each week. They will be sent more regularly from 9 June. If you are not receiving emails from Bicycle Victoria or Cycling Events Down Under you should visit the Ride Pack webpage for more information.
What do I do if I have not received a confirmation email? (10/06/08)
See Ride Pack for more information.
Will I be able to get a park at the start of the Ride? (10/06/08)
Parking is limited and we suggest that you park and ride to the start unless you have small children with you.
Do I have to enter the Family and Fun Rides even though they are free events?
Yes you do. This helps the event organisers manage who is on the Ride and also to order your rider identification which must be worn on the day.
Do my children have to register, even if they are in a bike trailer or tag along?
Yes.
Will I receive confirmation of my entry?
Yes, if you have supplied an email address with your registration. Confirmations will be emailed to you within a week of your entry being processed. If you did not supply an email address and you registered by 6 June you will receive the same information in your Rider Pack which will be posted to you.
Can I start at a different location?
No, definately not. Due to the restrictions that we have on the road, and the sections that the ride is using, you are only able to start at the Monash Freeway interchange.
Will there be car parking? -please read carefully as Car Parking details have changed and are limited.
Yes there will be limited car parking. Access will be at Wellington Road on-ramp. You will have to park your car and ride to the start. Marshals will be able to direct you. Final parking details will be sent to you in your Rider Pack and published on the website when available.
Can I drop off my family/young children closer to the start?
Yes. There will be a drop-off facility available. Final details will be sent to you in your Rider Pack and published on the website when available.
If I am riding to to the start, can I access the EastLink motorway at alternate entry points.
If you are riding to the start you can enter the EastLink motorway from the Wellington Road on-ramp and the Cheltenham Road on-ramp. Please see Getting to the Start for more information.
Will there be cars on the road?
Not where you are riding, however, there will be traffic moving through the assembly side of the motorway for parking, and family drop-offs. You will need to be cautious when riding to the start.
Will I be able to finish the ride and take part in the EastLink Festivities?
Yes. We recommend that once you finish your Ride, you put your bike back in your car and take one of the shuttle buses to the festival.
Will the new EastLink Trail bike path be open?
No, unfortunately the trail will not be open on the 15 June. It is scheduled to open in July. Make sure you stay informed.
How will the faster riders be lined up at the start of the EastLink Challenge Ride?
Riders will be lined up in order of their rider number. The organisers ask that you, as a rider, make sure you get yourself into the right position on the start line. The organisers recommend that if you are a slower rider, even if you have an early rider number, that you position yourself closer to the back of the group. By doing this you will not have to deal with the faster riders overtaking you early on. There will be plenty of room for riders to organise themselves, and also to overtake on the ride, with the first 5km - 10km being a lot wider than the remainder of the course.
Will we be riding through the tunnel?
Unfortunately the ride does not go through the tunnel. There will be public walk-throughs happening from 10am to 4pm, so you can complete your ride, take shuttle bus to the Ringwood Festival Site and join one of the public walk-throughs. For more information visit the EastLink Roadshow.
