65km Challenge Queries
We have had a few queries from riders that are under the impression that the entry fee for the 65km Challenge, or part of it, went to Bicycle Victoria. this is not the case. Cycling Events Down Under conducted this event while Bicycle Victoria provided a website to deliver the event information.

Feedback
We have received feedback about the EastLink cycling event. The cycling activities were one component of the EastLink Road Show Community Day and were required to fit within the confines of other events, including the Historic Car Rally and spectator/participant parking.
Why couldn't we ride on both sides of the motorway?
We asked for both carriageways, however the second carriageway was unavailable due to car parking.
Why where there so many riders?
The opportunity to ride the motorway proved too good for many to refuse and close to double the expected number of riders turned up. The overwhelming attendance on the day of non-registered riders was estimated to be more than 20 000. This equates to over 45 000 riders all up.
Why wasn't the course better defined?
The registration process was in place to determine logistic requirements and resources. The doubling of numbers significantly impacted on the infrastructure and resources that were in place for the 26 000 registered riders. It burst the seams.
Why were cyclists of mixed abilities riding together?
Bicycle Victoria supports the principle of controlling different skill levels riding together. The decision to include a diverse range of riders had been made prior to our involvement. Operations & logistics where changed in the lead up to this event to minimise this impact. The additional volume of riders impacted the flow times of the rides on the day.
