Route Communication Assistant

Route Communication Assistants are based within the Route Control Centre - the critical hub of the event. Route Communication Assistants control and monitor all 2way radio communications occurring out on route. Within this position, you will always be up to date with the gossip from the ride!  Find out more here.

Route Marshal Support

Based within the Route Control Centre, Route Marshal Support monitor the welfare and well being of the Route Marshals out on route via mobile & 2way radio.  If you love to chat, this one is for you!  Find out more here.

Route Marshal

Route Marshals are the eyes & ears of the ride.  Strategically placed along the rider route, you will encounter varying responsibilities from cheering the riders, providing assistance to those who may be struggling, providing direction to riders, notifying  the Route Control Centre of any issues and helping inform motorists and pedestrians about the event.  The best part is that you get lots of cheers and thanks from the riders as they pedal past.  Find out more here.

Route Signage

The Route Signage team is primarily responsible for the safe and practical installation of route directional signage, ensuring that our riders stay on track.  Being able to read a map and find your bearings is essential!  Find out more here.

Motorcycle Marshal

Motorbike Marshals are mobile trouble-shooters out on route for the Route Control Centre.  They must be first aid qualified.  They are assigned to a Rest Area and monitor riders and the rider route within a designated boundary.  You get to ride in the event...... with the assistance of a motor!  Find out more here.

Riding Marshal - 50km & 100km

Riding Marshals assist riders along the route when emergencies arise, such as basic mechanical failures or when riders are showing signs of fatigue.  Riding Marshals are dedicated to either the 50km or 100km route and must be fit and ready for a long day on the saddle!  Find out more here.

SAG Wagon

SAG Wagon team members patrol the route in vehicles with trailers and help those riders who are unable to continue due to mechanical or body breakdown.  Team members need to be sympathetic and supportive to those riders they collect.  Your glass needs to be half full with this role!  Find out more here.

Rest Area

Your role will involve assisting riders as they enter and exit the Rest area in a safe manner.
You may also be required to act in the capacity as a Route Marshals who are the eyes & ears of the ride. Rest Areas are placed at strategic locations along the rider route, you will encounter varying responsibilities from cheering the riders, providing assistance to those who may be struggling, providing direction to riders, notifying the Route Control Centre of any issues and helping inform motorists and pedestrians about the event.

The best part is that you get lots of cheers and thanks from the riders as they pedal past.

Lunch Assistant

The lunch crew is responsible for issuing lunch, drinks and snacks to the famished riders at either Queenscliff, Sorrento, Mordialloc or Alexandra Gardens.  You guys are always very popular!  Find out more here.

Ferry Assistant

Ferry Assistants are responsible for the safe and efficient loading of riders and bikes onto the departing ferries and the safe and efficient unloading of arriving ferries.  These teams are based seaside at Sorrento & Queenscliff.  Find out more here.

Site Assistant

Site Assistants are responsible for the set up and delivery of safe and fully functional site in order to cater for the riders, spectators and staff.  You will work closely with the various contractors and service providers to ensure everything is running according the plan.  Site Assistants will be based at Sorrento, Queenscliff or Alexandra Gardens.  Some manual handling duties are required (i.e. moving barricades and erecting signage).  Find out more here.

Massage Assistant

You will be up there in popularity stakes with the Lunch Assistants!  Your job is to provide basic massage services to those tired and weary bodies.  Massage Assistants will be based at Sorrento, Queenscliff or Alexandra GardensFind out more here.

100km Start Marshal (Sorrento)

Based at Sorrento, your task is to get the 100km riders safely underway.  Once they have all departed and the area is packed up, you then get to help the Sorrento Lunch and Ferry teams during their busy period.  You will always be in demand and get to have a go at many roles all in one day!  Find out more here.

Start Marshal (Alexandra Gardens)

The Start Marshals at Alexandra Gardens get to soak up the atmosphere and hype at the start line amongst thousands of eager and super fit bodies.  You are responsible for the set up of the area and ensuring riders get underway according to their ride distance, direction and average speed.  There will be other role options for you afterwards if you are still keen to keep going.  Find out more here.

Finish Marshal (Alexandra Gardens)

You get to witness all emotional states of the riders with this job!  Based at the ride finish line at Alexandra Gardens, you welcome the riders over the line and direct them into the Start/Finish Area where they can recover the enjoy the festive atmosphere.   Find out more here.

100km Transport Assistant

All aboard!  Your job is the load hundreds of excited and eager riders with their bikes onto the buses in order to make their way to the 100km Start Area in Sorrento.  Your job is done by 7am!  If that is not enough for you, afterwards you can join in another team at Alexandra GardensFind out more here.

Spectator Services Assistant

You get to know it all!  You will based at either Alexandra Gardens or at the Altona Beach Break Festival (half way point for the 50km ride) and your job is to assist riders and the public with the who, what, where and when, or operate the cloaking facilities.  Team members will get to swap between the Information Booth and the Bag Compound for some variety throughout the shift.  Find out more here.

Volunteer Support Assistant

With so many volunteers needed to help run the event, we need to put some volunteers aside to help manage them!  You will meet and greet all volunteers as they arrive on site at Alexandra Gardens, deploy them to their post and make sure they are having fun throughout the day.  High spirits is a must!  Find out more here.

Bike Parking Assistant 

A dream job for the bicycle enthusiasts!  You get to check out and admire bikes of all types and sizes all day....  We offer a secure area for riders to leave their bikes whilst they enjoy the activities available within Alexandra Gardens.  The Bike Parking team monitors the area and checks bikes in and out ensuring the right bike leaves with the right owner.  Find out more here.

Hospitality Assistant

Hospitality Assistants get to rub shoulders with the corporate teams who have purchased food and beverage packages.  You will meet and greet all guests and assist in serving beverages.  Find out more here.

Workshop - Equipment Assistant

Not interested in mixing with crowds or enjoying the great outdoors?  We need a strong and hardy crew to assist pack and unpack all the equipment from around the course at the BV workshop in Sunshine over the weekend.  Find out more here
