2007 Top 100 Fundraisers

A big thank you to all the riders that raised sponsorship in support of The Smith Family in 2007. Here is a list of the Highest 100 Individuals and Highest 100 Team Fundraisers from 2007.

Special mention to our number one fundraiser, Gary Harvey, who has made the trip over from Singapore for the ATB for the last eight years, raised $37,830. Followed very closely with an impressive $30,700 by Robert Fowler. Nick Muecke in his first ATB and rounded the podium in third place with $9,580.

Portfolio Partners did a fantastic job as number one team raising $62,115. Macquarie Bank was very close with a total of $59,652, and coming in with the bronze was The Smith Family with $35,862. A huge effort by all involved and greatly appreciated by many disadvantaged Aussie kids.

The Whittlesea Warriors were awarded the Highest Fundraising Council in 2007.

Our partnership

The Smith Family photoThe Smith Family has been an active partner of Around the Bay in a Day for 16 years. 100% of entry fees go towards the staging of the event and to Bicycle Victoria's campaigns to Get More People Cycling More Often. The Smith Family generates funds through Riders taking on the fundraising challenge.

All Riders are encouraged to seek sponsorship from their friends, family and colleagues to help support The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program, providing educational, financial and personal support to disadvantaged Australian children.

Riders may obtain sponsorship for any amount with all donations of $2 and over being tax deductible.

Get Sponsored and give disadvantaged Australian children a flying start

There are 621,000 Australian children living in households where no resident parent is employed (ABS 2006, Australian Social Trends). Research shows a direct link between incidence of poverty and level of education. The higher the level of education, the lower the risk of disadvantage.

The Smith Family works to unlock opportunities so that all children in every community have the same chance at an education no matter what background they have come from.

In 2007, 15% of the 14,000 riders who participated fundraised, helping to raise over $500,000 for The Smith Family – a new record!  Just imagine how much we could raise and how many kids we could assist if every rider took up the challenge to ‘Get Sponsored’?
