The Great Escapade is for riders seeking a fully supported touring holiday in the best riding destinations. It is about riding your bike in tourism hotspots and enjoying the fantastic scenery and holiday experience by the seat of your bike. We take care of the planning and you take care of the riding.
The Great Escapade is relatively new in the world of Bicycle Victoria. The event has visited New South Wales and Western Australia so far and the next journey will be in New Zealand.
We have spent a number of months behind the scenes preparing the Great Escapade for the .jpg)
future and we are excited about what we have planned for you. The first difference that you may notice is the timing – our next Great Escapade is in 2012. A number of factors have influenced the design of our events calendar over the next few years and one outcome is that you will have a couple of years to prepare yourself for the next Great Escapade. With New Zealand as the back drop, it will be fabulous.
Another change is the location – for the first time we head to the North Island of New Zealand. We have met the locals and scouted the Island to find some amazing places to take your bike on a well earned holiday. We will release details of the route in coming months.
Where to ride in 2010
So what about 2010? Well, even though we won’t be taking an event across the Victorian border there are still plenty of riding opportunities. We have been speaking to the team at Bicycle Queensland and they would love to see you on the Cycle Queensland ride in September 2010. We are also working with the team at All Trails and will announce a few additional rides to the calendar.
And of course the 2010 Great Victorian Bike Ride will be weaving its way around Victoria – from Yarrawonga to Marysville.
So for those of you that love multi-day rides, make sure you pencil these dates into your diary
