Answers to Riding Volunteers' Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

As a Riding Volunteer how much reimbursement do I get on my registration cost?

30% of the standard entry fee will be reimbursed to you, provided you complete your Volunteer obligations and the Riding Volunteer Reimbursement Form, given to Riding Volunteers before the Ride.

Those who complete their Rider Registration late and miss out on the $100 discount, will not receive 30% of the additional $100 paid, as part of the reimbursement. The reimbursement is calculated on the standard entry fee.

When do I get my Riding Volunteer Reimbursement?

Those accepted as Riding Volunteers will be sent a copy of the Riding Volunteer Reimbursement Form before the Ride.

Riding Volunteers are reimbursed after confirmation from their Team Leader that hours and tasks were completed as expected.

If you complete the form with your bank details for Electronic Funds Transfer, your Riding Volunteer Reimbursement will take place in the 4 to 6 weeks after the Ride. If you require a cheque payment, receiving your reimbursement could take 8 to 10 weeks after the Ride.

Do I have to pay my Rider Registration up front?

Yes. Your Riding Volunteer Application will not be considered until your Rider Registration has been paid in full.

For how many hours per day will I be required?

Bicycle Victoria try to minimise hours for all Volunteers, where possible. It is most unlikely that a Riding Volunteer would be required for duties for any more than 4 hours each day.

When will I get my Ride Passport?

Riding Volunteers' Ride Passports will be mailed, as it will for all Riders.

When will I get my Volunteer Uniform?

Riding Volunteers can collect their Volunteer Uniform from the Volunteers' Support Tent on arrival at the first Campsite.

What about Transport to and from the Ride?

Riding Volunteers are considered Riders, in regard to Transport. Riding Volunteers need to book and pay for Transport to and from the Ride, as a Rider.
