Bikes and health, a natural partnership
Leading private health insurer HBA have announced an exciting new partnership with Australia’s premier bike challenge, HBA Around the Bay in a Day.
The event promotes the importance of a healthy lifestyle and will raise funds for The Smith Family’s programs helping to support disadvantaged children.
The 2010 event, which will be held on Sunday 17 October in Melbourne, is expected to attract more than 16,000 bike riders.
Now in its 18th year, HBA Around the Bay in a Day has grown from 2500 participants in 1993 to more than 15,000 last year.

Riders, you have the opportunity to go the extra mile and raise money for official charity partner The Smith Family. Riders last year have raised more than $900,000 doubling the figures for 2008 of $400,000 for The Smith Family.
At the conclusion of the ride, thousands of riders enter the fantastic Alexandra Gardens start/finish site where live music, entertainment, roving entertainers, corporate hospitality, food and beverage facilities, and sponsor displays and giveaways provide a fantastic end to a great ride.
The HBA Around the Bay in a Day®, GO Bike Expo® Presented by BT RISK & INSURANCE, and Ride to Work Day will again be the cornerstones of the Melbourne Cycling Festival in 2010, with Victoria’s three iconic cycling events coming together to create a major week of cycling-centric activity in Melbourne.

* Transfers, Cancellations and Interstate bike transport refunds (50%) close at 5pm.
* No changes can be made to complete registrations, only new registrations will be accepted after 5pm.

Registration update
* 3000 spots on the 210km Sorrento (with ferry) ride option have been sold as at 10am Monday 26 July. Only 1000 spots left!
* 210km Queenscliff (with ferry) and 250km Queenscliff ride option are sold out and no longer appear in the selection options.
If you wish to request a spot in either of the sold out ride options, please go to the Bicycle Victoria forum site and register your interest to purchase a registration. Places may become available from riders no longer wishing to participate and will advertise/contact you via the forum site in order to transfer their registration.
