At school

At Ride2School we work to ensure that any students involved in Ride2School at their school are skilled and responsible bike riders, competent road users and careful pedestrians.

Risk Management in the Ride2School Program involves:

• Encouraging schools to offer Bike Ed to students
• Training volunteers as Bike Ed instructors to work with teachers in schools

There is a considerable amount of information about Bike Ed for schools in the Solutions Toolkit section of this website. Check out the information and feel free to forward it on to your childs school if they aren't offering Bike Ed.

Bicycle education providers

If your child's school does not offer bike ed, then there are still plently of options available to you if you want your child to learn to ride safely.

According to Vic Roads, Bike Education is a great way to 'develop safe, independent cyclists'. Bike Ed programs aim to 'develop and nuture a responsible attitude to road use, practice riding skills for safe bike use and increase children's knowledge of road rules'.

We have a comprehensive list of Bike Ed providers and traffic schools in Victoria available for download.

And don't forget, we have a growing database of friendly trained volunteers to assist your teachers with Bike Education. You will need one trained teacher but if you would like extra help at your school, contact the Ride2School team on 03 8376 8888.
