In an Australian first, citizens of Melbourne are about to join Paris, Montreal and Barcelona to experience and enjoy the benefits of a public bike system. Melbourne Bike Share, operated by RACV on behalf of the Victorian government, is an alternative means of urban transport that is both healthy and environmentally friendly.
Melbourne Bike Share will be available to everyone, seven days a week from 31 May 2010.
Whether commuting to work, running an errand at lunch or heading across town for a meeting or lecture, Melbourne Bike Share will be the quick, easy and affordable way to get there.
So make sure you join in and take advantage of unlocking a bike at one of 50 bike stations across Melbourne’s CBD, riding to your destination and returning the bike when finished to any station.
Melbourne Bike Share offers several types of subscriptions from daily to annual individual and corporate subscriptions. To find out more or register your interest, go to www.melbournebikeshare.com.au.
RACV also offers Bike Assist, a service designed to assist members when their bike cannot be ridden, due to an accident, mechanical problem or puncture. If we cannot fix the problem on the side of the road, a taxi is ordered to transport the bike and the rider to their destination. Individual or family subscriptions are available which cover up to eight service calls a year. For more information or to purchase Bike Assist call RACV on 13 11 11 or visit www.racv.com.au.
