Subaru not enemy of bike riding

I couldn't believe my ears this morning when I heard (via 774) that some members were unhappy about the Subaru advertisement in the BV magazine. The way it came across was that BV were in bed with the devil - massive, bull-bar totting, resource consuming, cyclist crushing monstous 4-wheel drives! Are these critics mad? The Subaru Forester is not only one of the safest vehicles on the road, it is pedestrian friendly (NCAP crash testing results), is no longer than a Corolla and is very light on fuel.

It is certainly not the size or fuel hungry vehicle such as a Hummer or Landcruiser. And guess what, if you check out the brand of vehicle with two or three bikes on the back, perhaps driving to a drop-off point along a trail, there's a good chance it will be a Forester.

Perhaps those who complained should get real and think before making such ridiculous allegations.

Subaru makes fantastic vehicles, but they do not belong in a cycling magazine. Get rid of it!

Or better still, it may be time for BV's CEO to move on - and represent the interests of petrol-heads, eg Australian F1 Grand Prix Supremo?
