Bicycle Network Victoria: Bupa Around the Bay
Event Information
Find out about one of Australia's "must do" bike rides.
This year for the first time ever, we will be using mandatory timing tags.
You will be provided with a timing tag to monitor your performance and determine whether or not you are achieving your goal. The timing chips will be disposable and sent out in your rider kits with detailed instructions on how to attach to your bicycle.
Updated 26/7
Bicycle Network Victoria is excited to bring a timing system to this year’s Bupa Around the Bay.
Remembering importantly that Bupa Around the Bay is not a race, the timing system, however will allow us to provide you with an accurate time for the day.
This year we will be publishing on our website a list of participant and times.
Timing mats will be positioned at all start and finish lines as well as the ferry points.
To receive a time you must cross the timing points at both the start and finish, failure to do so will mean that your name will not finish amongst those who participated.
The company we are using is Timing Sports and they will be providing all riders with the ChronoTrack D-Tag (a disposable timing tag).
So remember, no tag no start!
Compulsory rider shirts
50km registered riders must wear their event rider shirt on the day. Riders who participate as part of a registered team will be exempt.
Bupa Around the Bay 2011 Ride Guide
Those participants who are riding in the 100km, 135km, 210km and 250km will receive a copy of this year's Ride Guide in their packs. For those riders in the 50km, please view the Ride Guide here:
