A short section of this trail has been constructed in Horsham and follows the banks of the Wimmera River.
There is potential for it to be extended to Natimuk and Mt Arapiles in the future.
Trail Surface
The trail has a bitumen surface in the section near the Botanical Gardens in Horsham and becomes a hard-packed fine gravel and dirt as it heads further west along the river.
It is suitable for most bikes with wider tyres but the track may become muddy after rain.

Trail Description

The trail follows the northern bank of the river and passes Sawyers Park and the Botanical Gardens as it heads in a westerly direction.
There are BBQs, seating and toilets dotted along the trail. A side trail will take you over a bridge to Apex Island in the middle of the river which has a children's playground.
The trail continues along the river to the weir and Weir Park where it leaves the town behind and passes through pretty wetlands along the Yanga Track.
There are several trails that weave back and forth across the river but it is almost impossible to become lost with the river as a constant landmark. You can ride along one side of the river and come back on the other side.
