Bicycle Network Victoria: Bike Futures Services
6 Data from RiderLog
RiderLog is a source of data that shows aggregated rider flows – where, when and for what purpose people are riding their bikes.
The RiderLog application monitors riders’ trips, including GPS coordinates, whereupon it builds an accurate and real-time map of rider behaviour.
The RiderLog data captures trip purpose (transport or recreation), age, gender, distance, speed, and what Local Government Area (LGA) people are riding from and to.
RiderLog illustrates riding patterns, allowing authorities to, for example, better plan their investment in bike facilities.
It has implications for how bicycle communities can be planned and managed.
