Melbourne
The city features an eclectic mix of impressive architecture, public gardens and café filled laneways snaking a chaotic pattern across the city, not to mention a staggering choice of restaurants and bars – and the more obscure the better! Melburnians are known for their love of great food and wine, along with a passion for football, fashion and festivals. The city has a strong multi-cultural vibe, with over 100 languages spoken by the city’s residents.

Whilst the climate of Melbourne is mild, it is famously known for its reputation of experiencing “four seasons in one day”. A standing joke throughout Australia, the city of Melbourne really does have it all! The Bike Futures conference is held in Spring, a perfect time to visit the city.
Home to such international events as the Melbourne Cup, Formula One Grand Prix and Australian Open, it will come as no surprise that over one million international visitors enjoy the sights of this vibrant city every year.
Bike activity week
The Bike Futures conference coincides with Melbourne's peak bike activity week which kicks off with Ride to Work Day on the Wednesday, takes in the Go Bike Expo, the finish of the Sun Tour on Saturday and concludes on Sunday with Around the Bay in a Day, the nation's largest mass participation ride event.
Getting Around
Whilst Melbourne is easy to navigate by foot, the city is serviced by a train network, electric trams, buses and taxis. The “City Circle Tram” is a free service around central Melbourne. The tram, distinctive by its historic appearance, takes passengers past major attractions and links with train and tram services. Look for the specially marked signposts at tram stops.
For something a little more special, the city can be seen from horse drawn carriage and even water taxi along Melbourne’s famous Yarra River.
