Victorian Trails Strategy
In July 2005 the Victorian Trails Strategy 2005-2010 was approved by Minister Thwaites.
In July 2005 the Victorian Trails Strategy 2005–2010 (PDF 1.97MB) was approved by Minister Thwaites and released.
The Strategy identifies a framework for future trail develoment, management and promotion based on principles of ecologically sustainable development.
The key directions are trail network management, trail marketing and trail research.
In 2001 Bicycle Network Victoria made a submission to the Victorian Trails Strategy, calling for:

increased, regular funding for Victoria's rail trails

research that shows the benefits of rail trails including economic, health and community benefits

clarification of mountain bike access in parks

construction of the metropolitan trail network

high standards for bike trail construction

better trail signage.
