Hobsons Bay City Council

BiXE 2009: City of Hobsons Bay

Hobsons Bay City Council has a BiXE 2009 of $4.44 per capita. This shows Hobsons Bay falls below the average BiXE 2009 for the Middle Councils' zone of $5.95. Hobsons Bay has a 3 year BiXE average of $4.18. There is room for improvement to meet the recommended $5 per resident.

Hobsons Bay City Council has opportunities to invest these funds into cycling infrastructure such as:
• Building the missing link along the Kororoit Creek path to the Federation Trail
• Upgrade Bay Trail south of the Westgate Bridge
• Upgrade and complete the Bay Trail West
• Providing more on road bike lanes on Council-maintained roads, particularly around schools.

Council proposing more bucks for bikes

05 June 2008 Hobsons Bay Council is committing $390,000 for cycling initiatives in its 2008-09 proposed budget. This is an increase from last financial year when the Council committed $300,000.

If you are a resident of Hobsons Bay or ride in the area let Council know they are heading in the right direction.

Victoria St - a great result!

Oct 06 The proposed Bike lanes in Victoria St have been given the go ahead by Council and are due to be applied next week. Well done to all of those who took the time to write to Hobson's Bay Council asking them to proceed with the proposal at a time when they were unsure of the need for the bike lanes and were asking for our support.

Aug 06 Hobsons Bay City Council are proposing to put exclusive lanes on Victoria St and have sought our support for this (refer letter, right). Victoria St is 16 metres wide with ample space for bike lanes and would provide a good link between the Bay Trail West along the esplanade and the primary, secondary and University campus to the north.

We encourage you to show your support to council by emailing them at: Customerservice@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au Don't forget to send a copy (bcc) to campaigns@bv.com.au

Battery Road redevelopment

Nov 05 Hobsons Bay council has recently engaged GHD Consultants to develop a proposal for the redevelopment of Battery Road in the Point Gellibrand Coastal Heritage Park.

The concept plan shows a 3m shared use path being built on the beach side of the road. This path will link into the existing shared paths at Point Gellibrand.
