Bicycle Network Victoria: Board & Governance
The Board Calendar
Each year the Board endorses a calendar of work for the year that maps out the regular activities of the Board as well as the issues that the Board intends to tackle in that calendar year.
Members who serve on the Bicycle Network Victoria Board make a substantial commitment of their time. Board members who serve on the Board and the Audit and Risk Committee attend at least 20 meetings over the year, which adds up to around 50 hours. This estimate does not include the preparation time in reading papers, discussing issues off line before the meeting, and travel.
2010 Calendar
A busy 2010 Board Calendar was passed at the January meeting. The calendar shows that with the Board and Committees, and Board retreats there are at least 40 possible dates for attendance at Board related activities.
There are a number of other possible activities for Board members including meetings with the staff and the Christmas Party. Some Board members also participate in and volunteer on events like Around the Bay in a Day or the Great Victorian Bike Ride.
This year’s Board calendar includes two Retreats, one each in autumn and spring. These retreats are usually held off site and start late afternoon Friday and end late afternoon Saturday.
