Bicycle Network Victoria: Board & Governance

During 2009 the Board has been evolving, formalising and recording our processes including the process for the election of President and Vice President. This year’s election of President was more formal than in past years.

Expressions of interest were sought earlier in the year from Board members.

The election session of the first meeting of the 2010 Board was chaired by the General Manager Corporate Services.

David Levin, whose term on the Board ended at the 2009 Annual General Meeting, acted as returning officer counting the results of the secret ballot – not an onerous task with nine voters!

Nominations for President were put formally to the Board and each candidate gave a five minute policy speech. Board members then put questions to the two candidates.

The process was then repeated for the position of Vice President.

Simon Crone was elected President and Janice Simpson Vice President.

The General Manager Corporate Services then vacated the Chair and the new President chaired the Board meeting that followed.
