Meet the Riders Team

Our great Riders Team is made up of a handful of staff, working closely with dedicated Volunteers

Our Membership successes are the result of a handful of staff

Kath Struthers

Riders Manager

PROFILE: Kath has worked for Bicycle Network Victoria for three years and volunteered prior to that and her bike bug grows and grows. Kath loves the weekends, not because of the break from work but to get on the mountain bike and find great new trails all around Victoria! With a degree in Tourism Business Management and a passion to explore new places and cultures and meeting new people, she thrives on supporting people and ensuring they are receiving the benefits they want, the perfect fit for Bicycle Network Victoria membership.

Jess Carmichael

Member  & Friends Manager

Jess spends a fair proportion of her day speaking to our wonderful Members and Friends, listening to what they need and expect from their membership. She also comes up with new strategies to enlist a greater number of members to fulfil our aim of getting more people cycling more often.

PROFILE: Jess leads by example and lives a healthy life, 'loves' running and gym workouts and is a dedicated member of the early morning training sessions. She is all style and grace on her vintage Schwin bike (with a leather seat), and makes frequent trips to local markets and the beach, all, off course, with her long locks flowing in the wind.

Sasha Warren

Membership Coordinator

It's a rare day when Sasha doesn't come into work with fresh ideas about how to make sure Bicycle Network Victoria's members are well taken care of. As Sales Team Leader, Sasha is one of your first points of contact for Bicycle Network Victoria.

PROFILE: Sasha's the living embodiment of the part-way-is-ok philosophy. Living outside Zone 1 makes it challenging for Sasha to ride the whole way into work. True to her nature of always finding the sunny side of life, Sasha has really started to enjoy taking the train to Reservoir station and riding from there. If you live in the area keep an eye out and make sure to say hi. Sasha is always looking for Bicycle Network Victoria members out in the real world.

Emma’s personal motto is ‘be the change you want to see in the world’ and she lives this in every aspect of her life. Emma loves working for an organisation that fits in with her personal motto.

Stewart Jones

Fulfilment Team Leader

Stewart lays the ground work to ensure the smooth running of the Great Victorian Bike Ride and the Great Escapade. He is studying for a Bachelor of Multimedia Networks and Computing. His knowledge and skills have been used to excellent effect as a volunteer since 2005 both on rides and, more recently, working in the Rides Team in the office.

PROFILE: Stewart is his own man. He does not follow fads or fashions, or succumb to peer group pressure. He owns a bike with “lots” of gears which he rides “occasionally”. But he will not upgrade it until he has “thoroughly researched the market”.

Ed Jones

Fulfilment Team Member

Ed is at the frontline of looking after our riders and servicing their needs, a job which he relishes! He recently graduated from university with a Commerce Degree, majoring in Sports Management. Whilst at uni he made the most of his people skills and expert serve as a tennis coach.

PROFILE: Now that he lives and breathes all things bikes, he is in the market for obtaining his own flat bar road bike. Once he has decided on the optimum model, he will no longer battle with peak hour public transport but will instead enjoy a leisurely morning ride along the banks of the Yarra into work.

Joanna Chambers

Fulfilment Team Member

Jo brings health, hard work and harmony to the Riders team. A qualified yoga instructor and having completed her Bachelor of Naturopathy, Nutritional Science and Masters of Public Health, Jo brings a wide range of experience and education toward more people cycling more often. Having participated as a WARBY in the 2011 RACV Great Victorian Bike Ride, Jo understands what it takes to execute such an event, as well as the rider experience.

PROFILE: Jo has been heavily invested in her University studies over the past few years, but when she does take a break, you'll have a hard time finding Jo as she will be off an adventure on her bike, bushwalking, visiting art galleries, painting, practising yoga or cooking. Jo doesn't own a car, so as well as getting into the bicycle culture and riding to work, she will also be seen riding to the local shops to do her shopping, and riding to visit friends.
