Around the Bay in a Day® is Australia's premier mass participation bike ride. Leading into it’s eighteenth year, the event is experiencing significant growth, with over 15,600 riders participating in 2009. The official charity partner, The Smith Family generates funds through riders taking on the fundraising challenge by seeking sponsorship. The event offers a choice of five ride distances: 50km, 80km School Challenge, 100km, 210km and 250km. With the exception of the 100km ride, which starts in Sorrento, all rides start and finish at Alexandra Gardens.
