Trouble spots highlighted with green

City of Melbourne, in consultation with Bicycle Victoria, have decided to highlight several areas due to conflict between bike riders and pedestrians as well as motor traffic.
Although these lanes aren't to the usual width the green paint is designed to make drivers and pedestrians more aware of bike riders.
One of the problem areas is at Tram Super Stops. There is an entry and exit point at each end of the stops and a number of pedestrians step out to cross the road without looking, or expecting bike riders. The photo to the right shows a pedestrian waiting for a bike rider to pass before crossing to the Super Stop at Collins and Spring Street.
There are still a number of areas that require green paint along Collins St
Although the green paint is a good start there are still a couple of important locations that require the treatment.
The second photo on the right shows the Super Stop at the intersection of Collins and Swanston St. You can see in the photo that the green paint falls short of Manchester Lane and the entry/exit point for the Super.jpg)
Stop. The treatment needs to be extended to cover these 2 conflict points.
The third photo is taken at the pedestrian crossing near the entrance to the Novotel Hotel at 270 Collins St. Green paint is needed here as this is a major conflict point with taxi's and delivery vans servicing the hotel and its guests.
There is also a problem at the pedestrian crossing at the same location. When traffic banks up some pedestrians decide not to wait for the green signal and step onto the road without looking for bikes travelling up the inside of the stationary traffic.
