Connecting to the Federation Trail

Sep 07 A connection between the Federation Trail and the Skeleton Creek Trail is high on the Bicycle Victoria "most wanted" list. At this stage the proposed connection under the Princes Freeway (Melway 207 C1) is a longer term proposition.

The completion of the Palmers Road project will provide Skeleton Creek Trail users with a link to the Federation Trail through the Boardwalk and Willowgreen Estates in Point Cook.

Please see the VicRoads website for more information on this project.

Skeleton Creek Trail Meets Bay Trail West

Aug 05 With funding assistance from Parks Victoria, Hobsons Bay City Council has extended the Skeleton Creek Trail in Altona Meadows to meet the Bay Trail West (Hobsons Bay Coastal Trail).

The Skeleton Creek Trail now runs continuously, on the east side of the creek, from the Bay Trail West to Point Cook Rd. From there it crosses over the creek and continues on the south side to just short of the Westgate Freeway.

Eventually the trail will link to the proposed Federation Trail which is north of the freeway.

A leaflet showing the new section of trail is available from Hobsons Bay City Council on 9932 1000.

Feb 05 Another missing link has been filled along the Bay Trail West at the Jawbone reserve to Maddox Rd, Williamstown North.

Funding has been allocated to develop a new path along Skeleton Creek, this path will add an additional 3km’s to the Bay Trail West. Works are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Planning will begin this year for a bike path to run along Koroit Creek from the Bay Trail West to Princes Fwy. This trail has the potential to link to the Federation Trail once complete.

Bicycle Victoria would like to see a good quality path filling the gap in the Bay Trail West from Ann St to Point Gellibrand, Williamstown.
