Closures and Detours due to EastLink Construction
Between Boronia Rd and Mountain Hwy (Mel 63 D4/5)
Sep 07 Thiess John Holland have advised that the Dandenong Creek trail between Boronia Rd and Mountain Hwy is open.
Jul 07 Further to the update below, the opening of the path through Koomba Park has been delayed. At this point in time the trail is expected to open for use on Monday July 16.
Jul 07 Unfortunately, due to the extended wet weather experienced over the past two weeks, construction of the path is behind schedule. While Thiess John Holland are working as quickly as possible, at this point in time, it is not likely that the trail will reopen next Friday 13 July as planned.
They will monitor construction progress over the next week and will advise us next Thursday as to the likelihood of the path being opened on time or not.
Thiess John Holland apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Jun 07 Thiess John Holland have advised that as of June 15 the Koomba Park car park on Boronia Rd (Melway 63 D4/5) and the Dandenong Creek Trail between Mountain Hwy and Boronia Rd will be closed for 3 weeks while the remainder of the new shared path is constructed.
May 07 Thiess John Holland have advised that the main trail in Koomba Park will not be open until June 18. They apologise for any inconvenience.
May 07 The main trail in Koomba Park (between Mountain Highway and Boronia Road) will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists for the next four weeks. This closure is required to enable construction of new shared use paths as part of the EastLink project.
A detour is in place, however, due to the nature of the surface on the detour track, cyclists are advised to dismount and walk their bikes along the detour path. Cyclists may prefer to seek alternative routes while construction works are taking place.
Providing the weather stays dry Thiess John Holland expect to have the path open by Friday 8 June. They will be making every effort to have it open in time for the Queen's Birthday long weekend.
Between Ferntree Gully Rd (Mel Ref 72 B10) and Dandenong Creek (81 C4)
Jul 07 As part of the construction of EastLink, Thiess John Holland (TJH) will soon be carrying out upgrade works on the shared use (pedestrian / cyclist) path running south of Ferntree Gully Road in Scoresby to Dandenong Creek in Mulgrave.
The works will involve the removal of the existing gravel path and the creation of a new concrete path. As part of the upgrade, it may be necessary to temporarily close sections of path while works are being carried out. Path users will be asked to use detour routes, which will be clearly signposted and will, where appropriate, be managed by traffic controllers. Advance notification of the works will be provided via onsite signage and information displayed on local community message boards.
TJH are currently reviewing necessary construction and traffic management measures for these works, which are likely to commence in mid to late July. Further information will be communicated once these measures are confirmed.
Between Canterbury Rd and Boronia Rd (Mel 63 E3)
Jul 07 Thiess John Holland have advised that next week, a temporary detour will be in place on a 10 metre section of the Dandenong Creek trail. The detour will enable a drainage pipe to be installed under a small section of the trail between Boronia and Canterbury Roads, maintaining good drainage in this area during the wet winter months.
The work is expected to occur from Wednesday 11 until Friday 13. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained throughout the works, via a crushed rock detour path which will be available adjacent to the section of closed trail. Signage will be in place around the works area.
Extension of Trail
Jul 07 The Dandenong Creek Trail has been extended from Memory Crt (Mel Ref 65 E3) to the Liverpool Rd Retarding Basin (Mel Ref 65 G4). The works were completed in June and the trail extension is ready to ride.
The works were jointly funded by Parks Victoria and the Knox City Council.
Resurfacing of Dandenong Creek Trail
May 05 Cr Paul Donovan has welcomed the $100,000 allocated in the next council budget for the resurfacing of the popular bike trail along Dandenong Creek. The council will request that the state government matches the contribution. The trail will be upgraded from gravel to concrete. The council will also be spending $30,000 on on-road bike lanes.
