Missing link completed

Oct 07 The missing link in the Plenty River Trail was completed in April 2007 and officially opened in September 2007.

Bridge nearing completion

Feb 07 Banyule City Council are nearing completion of the bridge to close the missing link in the Plenty River Trail, south of Lower Plenty Road. This will help provide an important link between Greensborough and the Main Yarra Trail, allowing recreational and commuter riders access to the rest of the Metropolitan Trail Network. 

Plenty River Trail missing link to be completed (finally)

Sep 06 Banyule City Council are about to construct half a kilometre of shared concrete path and a 32m long bridge to link Greensborough to the Main Yarra Trail and Melbourne's CBD.

The path will be 2.5m wide and will run along the bank of the Plenty River on land that Banyule City Council has purchased from the Heidelberg Golf Club. The path is to be funded by Banyule City Council and it is anticipated that path works will begin in November and be completed early in 2007.  

The bridge is a joint project between Banyule City Council and Parks Victoria with both parties contributing half the overall cost.  A contractor has been selected to construct the bridge and works have already begun offsite. Onsite works should begin within 2 weeks.  The bridge will connect the new section of path to the existing Parks Victoria owned trail near Martins Lane.

Plenty River Trail

Apr 04 When complete, the Plenty River Trail will run uninterrupted from the Greensborough bypass to the Main Yarra Trail. A section between the Yarra Trail (Melway 32 G2) and Banyule Rd (Melway 20 H11) has been constructed, leaving only two incomplete sections. The missing bits are:

• Banyule Rd to Lower Plenty Rd
• Greensborough bypass connection.

The state government has announced it will construct a shared path alongthe Greensborough Bypass as part of an upgrade of the road through Greensborough (Melway 10 H11).
