The disused rail line between Old Tallangatta and Cudgewa would make amagnificent tourism rail trail. The rail trail has been constructed in neighbouring shires and a section is also complete in Towong Shire.
The future development of some sections of this 112km rail corridor, however, faces some local opposition in Towong Shire.
Bicycle Victoria contacted the candidates in the March 2003 shire elections to find out their views on the rail trail. Their responses can be viewed (see link at right).
