Draft Bike Strategy

Sep 06 Council have recently completed a draft of their new Municipal BikeStrategy for the Greater Shepparton area. This document is now out for public consultation and they assure us it should be available on their website by the end this week. We encourage you to give them feedback to ensure they can accurately reflect riders' needs in their action plan.

The draft strategy is available here: http://www.greatershepparton.com.au/residents/leisure/sharedpath/

Oct 02 Council is starting to tackle difficult bits of the bike network

Council has a focused bike plan with a detailed works program that lets them successfully apply for state government funds to complete the bike network. Shepparton has more people riding and more people wanting to ride as their bike network expands.

Strong local support for cycling means council continues to provide significant amounts of council funds for further improvements.

Bicycle Victoria ran a pilot Cycle Instead project in Shepparton in 2003 because it has a good base level of shared paths and bike lanes.
