Bike Plan launched
Oct 03 Council launched their bike plan on Ride to Work Day on 8 Oct which will provide a strategic framework for developing bicycle facilities over the next 10 years. Unfortunately there is no annual bicycle budget yet that would allow the works in the plan to be completed.
Bicycle Victoria's priorities are:
- Completing the Maribyrnong River Trail
- Developing a connection into Footscray along Napier St from the Maribyrnong River Trail and Footscray Rd path
- Building an off-road connection from the Maribyrnong River Trail to Highpoint Shopping Centre
- Investigating and developing an on-road commuter route to connect the western suburbs to the city, such as Sunshine Rd.
Bicycle projects that we consider to be high priority include:
- Sunshine Rd
- Ballarat Rd
- Hampstead Rd
- Raleigh Rd.
